And equally, over 23 million people did not vote to stay in the EU.

Your points are completely moot.

The entire voting public had the opportunity to vote in what was the most important, life changing vote in the history of the country. Of those that bothered, 17.4m voted Leave, and only 16m voted Stay.

So, we will Leave.

Suck it up.
I don't reply to him personally but now that you have I can add that he seems to be desperately splitting hairs to substantiate his misguided opinions!

While not strictly the EU, Greenland left the EEC but is still subject to EU treaties but has recently indicated that it may reapply for membership again

Annie, you are wrong. your post stating that no other country has ever left the EU is incorrect! I can quote three that have already left the EU prior to the UK.

ALGERIA.
As a full part of France, Algeria was a member of the Common Market between 1957 and 1962. That ended when they gained their independence in 1962.

GREENLAND
Greenland joined as part of Denmark in 1973. After winning home rule it held a referendum on membership in 1982 and 53 per cent voted to leave.

SAINT BARTHELEMY
The Caribbean island of Saint Barthelemy become a member of the EU as part of Guadeloupe, an overseas department of France. This ceased when Guadeloupe seceded.

All strength to his hand.

My most earnest wish is that the EU might be transmuted back into purely a free-trade organisation, without all of its political diktats and unreasonable large 'membership fees' which, it appears, serve only to finance its rulers and their inefficient annual trips back and forth from Brussels to Strasbourg.
