Fantasy or Nightmare???

I think the present situation in our HOC has turned into a
story of how one persons fantasies can turn into a lot of
peoples nightmares?
We have a parliament that has been taken over by one mans
fantasy to take power, and now has run amok creating new
laws on a whim and changing existing laws at will in the
fantasy of overturning the peoples decision!
unfortunately the fantasy has bewitched most of parliament
and has transformed into OUR nightmare which we so far
are unable to wake up from?
The nearest anology l can think of is Hitler just before
WW2 and how the german people got swept away by their
nightmare!
Would you agree??

I don't see the similarity with Nazi Germany. Parliament is there to make laws so they are doing what they are mandated to. We do not have a say in the laws they make, we can only lobby and protest. They make laws all the time. I'm not sure why nobody has noticed that until now.

Re: Fantasy or Nightmare???

I think it's drawing a long bow to equate what's happening in the UK now with nazi Germany. But I have to admit that I have never seen British politics in such a mess as it is now. Correct if I'm wrong please but I think a strong opposition would be a start. Corbyn comes across as a disingenuous weasel to many non British observers that I have spoken to. He seems a bit like Bill Shorten here and the Labor (our spelling) Party. When it comes down to it I think people just didn't like him. Scott Morrison came across as more "fair dinkum". Is this the case with Corbyn?..Is he just not appealing to the people? Johnson needs to win the prime ministership in a general election to gain proper legitimacy and a solid mandate. Unless you do away with democracy altogether virtually overnight, the people will decide how much power he gets. You get the government you vote for. And with your first past the post system it becomes pretty clear very quickly does it not?

It’s a nightmare all right. Far right take over : moderates resigning : a purge of those who disagree : a PM teetering on breaking the law....

Boris is completely useless as the general public mostly thought anyway.
He is PM solely because he's a character, rather like being in a workplace where the loud and mouthy tend to stand out - not because they are good at their job but because they are 'characters'.
He's a bumbling fool who gets tongue-tied at the slightest awkward question and engages mouth rather than brain, which impresses nobody.

Parliment is, or at least WAS the executive that represented the wants of the electorate. On that basis laws are, or WERE the democratic wants of the electorate escalated via their MP.

This Parliment, which I suspect will be known as The Rotten Parliment in years to come, has become totally disconnected from the electorate and it's role.

For most of them the voters have become nothing more to them than a resource that enables them to get to the trough.

My anolagy was meant to illustrate how one persons
fantasy can translate into the nightmare of many?
Ergo Nazis and Hitler / Corbyn and our present?
Mass hysteria /' mass hysteria
subterfuge / subterfuge

as regards making laws, yes that is their job, but in the
past it has taken sometimes several months to pass or
alter a law, but in this instance laws are being made in a
few hours ( including HOL scrutiny) to suit what the leader
of the honourable opposition needs to bring his fantasy
into reality!!
What do you think??

I thought the same as you Floydy, but Boris has gone up
In my estimation now, especially in comparison with the
other POS!
OK it is turning out badly at the moment! but could it be
any other way?
Given the shyte he has had to put up with??
At least he has the guts to back himself and his promises!
To me that is honesty?

He came to the role all guns blazing and looked very promising indeed. Giving money to the police, the BHS, farmers, fishermen....
The trouble with him is when he gets put on the spot and has to think quickly, he immediately falls apart and makes very silly and uninformed rash decisions. That is his weakness and Corbyn and the others including most of the Tory fallen have sussed. He is hopeless under pressure and you need to have a cool head when you're in his position.
