I'll tell you what the difference is, so when you return and take the bag off your head you'll be able to read and understand!
The difference is this: An avatar is available for the entire world to see every time you make a post.
Only a certain number of forum sections are
not public, namely Members Only, and Members' Profiles.
So if a poster chooses to put photos of self, family, hollies etc in their Profile, providing they've ticked the right box, they can feel safe in the knowledge that
no one can view them except other members.
i.e. not the general unwashed, not weirdos, not toerags from school etc etc
If this is incorrect maybe Azz can enlighten us.
