Mobile phone text puzzle

What do you make of this?

This morning I received a text from a friend which I found puzzling.
I suspected she'd sent it to me by mistake.
I replied with a few ???s...

She has no knowledge of the text I received and its not showing in her phone.

How can this be?

It could be an old text. Sometimes I get a text from someone that was received a year or so ago. It might say something like 'Hope you are feeling better now' And I think, but I'm not ill. I don't know who you are with but it has happened quite a few times with Orange/EE.

Thanks for that Longdogs, really helpful.
I'll ask my friend if she's with Orange or EE

Re: Mobile phone text puzzle

Ruthio, 3 times now I have received emails under the guise of friend's names, but they know nothing about it and have never sent them.

I believe their 'Contacts' lists had been hacked.

According to this, it appears the same can happen with our mobiles.

Re: Mobile phone text puzzle

Some will say, it’s just a glitch!

Last year, the day after my birthday, I sent a text to my sister in Spain, saying, l was out with my other sister and her husband having a meal for my birthday.

She still keeps receiving this text regularly, almost ten months after my birthday! Sometimes, she would receive the same text several times a day.

I have informed Tesco (O2) my provider and her provider, Vodaphone. They both blame the other network!

I've had this happen to me, too. It's just a glitch that will go away.

Sometimes I don't get receive texts for three or four days, then they all arrive together at once. Odd really seeing as EE constantly bang on about being the fastest network.

I'm sick of seeing all those EE adverts with Kevin Bacon. EE may be good but aren't much better than 3 whom I've used for years.
