Updated old vostro 1000 to win 10 ...

Just acquired an oldie but goodie...The laptop was originally Vista and upgraded to 7 prof and recently to Win 10 64...unfortunately the scroll pad driver in 10 was not installed as not compatable with actual pad....have been told to install touchpad driver for 7 or 8...I have downloaded 7 on a stick but have no idea which files on download I need to install....anyone that clever they can help please...it is old but sentimental....thanks...

Personally Polly I would have stuck with windows 7, I've got win 10 on this new laptop and win 7 on my old netbook and I just love working on the netbook, or even my desktop which is still on vista.....Life was so simple then......

Wouldn't it be easier just to use a USB mouse?

That's what I use on all my computers Judd, can't be doing with those 'Touchy Feely' things....

Open device manager > click on mice and other pointing devices > right click on touchpad > click on update driver > select browse my computer > navigate to usb stick > should? show compatible driver files > update


Or something like that.
