Run of bad luck

My husband has been made redundant today and as he has only been there for 4 months he won't get anything other than his months wage.

It had taken him 3 and a half years to find another job as he hated his last job and we were so overjoyed when he got his new job working in IT for Bon Marche.

He had only been there a matter of a few weeks when it was announced on the news that Bon Marche were to be taken over to get them out of a mess but heads would be cut in the process so it seems my husband is one of them.

I'm so worried as he is nearly 62 with only one arm after losing the limb in an industrial accident back in the 80s so we fear he's not going to get another job easy.

We still have a mortgage to pay and I really don't know how we will manage so its a very worrying time for us.

Life sure does throw some shit doesn't it.

I'm trying to keep his spirits up as he is very down as you can imagine but inside I'm so worried for us.

In the meantime I guess belts will have to be tightened a lot, no more luxuries for now, food and bills come first.

On a positive note we are going on holiday to Spain in August and the holiday is paid for and we have the euros for our spending money so at least we have something to look forward to.

I'm so sorry for him because only yesterday he was told he has eye damage due to diabetes which could result in him losing his sight, the poor bloke really needs a break.

Please wish us luck, its a bit doomy and gloomy here right now.

What sad news, Lion Queen, your hubby must be devastated. I sincerely wish all the good luck in the world to turn your way as soon as possible.

Oh goodness Lion Queen. The poor man. That must be so difficult especially for him. Men take the role as family priovider so seriously that this must be eating away at him intensely. Did he at least get a severance package?

Perhaps while you are on vacation you can put your heads together and find creative ways to make some extra income.

I wish you the best Lion Queen. You really are getting hit hard.
Sending loving vibes your way.
I hope you feel them.

I'm sorry to hear this LQ, life can be so cruel at times.

I hope there is a job somewhere out there for him, it's always the ones who want to work that seem to be hit the most.

Here's hoping something will turn up for him in the near future.

Best wishes to you both.

Re: Run of bad luck

That's really bum news.

Especially looking for over three years and then this happening after only four months.
It makes you wonder what goes on in the heads of some employers...... they must have known something was on the cards, so it seems mean to take on new people.

You do deserve some good luck.
You never know what's round the corner, though, so keep your pecker up.

Hi

He is not useless, he is someone who has overcome things and got back to work.

He will be in demand.

He also has you, absolutely lovely, to back him up.

You will both get there.

I wonder if it's worth contacting the local paper? They might consider it a newsworthy story and as a result someone might read it who could offer your husband a job.
