Switching Gadgets Off !

British households could save £600million a year in energy costs by switching their gadgets off standby

Really! But would it be worth the trouble

Re: Switching Gadgets Off !

But many things these days are not designed to be turned off fully (TV and freesat box) and others well I can't get to the plugs at all they are all behind furniture etc so likelihood of switching them off is remote.

I don't think I have very much on standby other than TV recording box, everything else is switched off including the TV.

I have those multi extension socket thingies with individual switches so turning off stuff, like TVs, is no longer a problem.

TV's should have a switch to turn off fully, also controls to alter the channel/sound etc in case the remote control breaks.

No buttons or switches on our TV you have to put it on stand by with the remote control or pull the plug which is not in my reach at all.

So if you drop the remote control you will have no television, that's not good.
