Casting film parts.

I'm beginning to take an interest in film credits, I never bothered before except maybe the directors name or an actors name who I thought played a good part. One very noticeable fact was, in all the films the casting was done by Women!. Is there any particular reason for this?, are they better at it than Men?.
I've seen a lot of films in my day and a lot of good and bad casting, but I'd still like to know why the job always belongs to a Woman. I think the worst casting I've ever seen was John Wayne as a roman soldier standing under the cross of Jesus, saying: "Yeah, he sure was the son of Gad". I think the picture was called 'The greatest story ever told'.
Anyone know more bad castings?.

There is a story about Wayne and that film-he was useless(as usual) and was told to repeat the line showing some `awe`.

Awe he sure was ----------------

And I loathed that version of Titatic--oh I seem to be here with you and we might get wet. Yes we may do but I love you even though you should be amongst the steerage class.

That was a terrible version of Titanic right enough, my favourite was Kenneth More in 'A night to remember. The wife tells me they once cast James Cagney in a cowboy film, but she can't remember the name of it, maybe she can but just wants to forget it, I would, can you imagine, 'Get off your horse yeh dirty rat'.
