Apart from the texture darlin', no doesn't taste like venison - unique flavour of its own. I also have a kangaroo steak in my freezer too. Have a very good butcher and he gets me lots of safari meats. In the past have cooked and eaten: buffalo, water buffalo, Eland, Kudu, Impala, ostrich, & Wildebeeste. All have their own unique flavour, but I love them all.

Meg, that's one reason I left most of my cook books when I moved here; can find anything on line nowadays. And there isn't enough room anyway!

Meg darlin' - if Lions can eat Zebra (albeit they eat theirs raw) then why shouldn't we also eat it??? - since it doesn't harm them, can't possibly harm us can it??? I subscribe to to the philosophy meat is meat is meat and therefore edible.

Re: Weekly Menu?

I woder if it is a culture thing that means we consider some animals "okay" to eat and some not....I mean some cultures... people eat people, others people eat cats/dogs/monkeys......whereas we eat cow and pig and call it beef/pork...softening the blow maybe?

Re: Weekly Menu?

I'm sure you have a point there, Kazz, I can't visualize myself eating monkey for example but if I'd been born in, oh say Tanzania, it would be bush meat and I'd enjoy it!And dogs are a common food option in some Asian countries.

Apparently cats aren't very tasty! You almost never hear of anyone eating it......
