They don't care anymore...

I have been trying to get some attention for Tony & myself for a few months now.

Finally I am getting results but not the results I'd like.

I have to wait for a telephone consultation on July 21st about my trochanteric bursitis.. How the heck can I be diagnosed on the phone without him touching my painful area & manipulating it? When I finally get to speak to this specialist I am going to request an MRI scan. I know he will probably refuse but if he does I am going to request that he arranges a private one. I am willing to pay. Shouldn't have to though!

My poor Tony, as well as having Alzheimer's is full of pain in his hip & back & is tired & exhausted all the time.
I am currently pleading with the doctor to see him. They don't seem to think there's any need. The furthest I've got on his behalf is blood tests in 2 weeks time.

I could weep at the way things are now..

Carol,

Have you tried using 111?

They seem to give good advice and they have direct contact, with the Doctor Surgeries, such that some of the difficulties can be put right.

Explain to 111 that it's severely affecting your mental health.

Hi Tedc.

I always thought 111 was for acute worrying problems to help decide if hospital was needed or not.

I can try them but seeing as our doctor has arranged something now I think we will have to wait.

Thanks for the suggestion though & I will certainly try them when/if I think they can help.

I am really hacked off with our GPs still not seeing anyone. I don't understand why not, the hospital Doctors are still working and hospital clinics still running. People, especially older people need to be seen. It so easy to mis-diagnose over the phone and could result in somebody actually dying. I know this has already happened.

Roxy I was told by the receptionist that they will never resort to how things were.

The e-consult form is here to stay. It saves the doctors a lot of time and prevents time wasters getting an appointment.

Not very nice for the people who are not timewasters though is it?

It seems as though the NHS 111 service is the first port of call before anything else, according to the information on the link below. My family have had problems getting health problems sorted and from what they say this seems to be how things are now.

Scan down to the bold heading "How NHS 111 works" where it's briefly explained:

Damn right it's not nice. But the Practice should know who the time wasters are and restrict them only.

Re: They don't care anymore...

Carol, I was only thinking that lately...that they don’t seem to care.
I think people will give up bothering about their health and just die instead. It’s easier!

I remember years ago ringing the doctors about something that l had been prescribed for, before. I asked if l could just pick up the prescription.
Oh No, we can’t do that! That wasn’t allowed and I was told l had to see the doctor before l was given the prescription.

Now look at it!
They are prescribing medicines willy nilly over the phone.
You just go and pick it up from the chemist you’ve requested they send it to!

I hate to think how hypochondriacs are coping!

Bearing in mind that, if people are getting 111 help in pursuit of their GP, that will be pushing you back in the queue, as it were, because the 111 service can contact the practice, on a direct number, on your behalf.

Carol, If you can't beat them, join them!
