Thanks for that Robert (and all of you)
I have always kept a travel diary since my father (a teacher and headmaster) insisted upon it whenever we went on a family holiday - including, believe it or not, Butlins! I could say a lot how that used to spoil the holiday but I won't.
My kids used to browse through my diaries when I returned from overseas but they are are writing with no pictures other than the odd brochure, ticket etc stuffed in the pages so the diary never held their interest for long - well it wasn't written for them but as a memory aid for me.
This google blogsite is the bees knees as far as I am concerned because a picture says a thousand words so there is a lot less writing.
Apparently my kids do read it occasionally just so they know where I am in between postcards.
Oh yes...
Atherton tomorrow and Cooktown Weds or Thurs.
When I went to Atherton in the 1960s the main crop was tobacco but now it is diversified to things like coffee and tea I believe.
In those days all the roads were dirt away from the towns and cities now it is bitumen all the way. (The dirt highway up the coast was called the 'Crystal Highway' because it was littered with broken windscreens)
