I posted a thread about robots the other day. Perhaps you didn't see it Bakerman, here is the link, it's very disturbing. This robot has gained CITIZENSHIP in Saudi Arabia!

Thank you Lion Queen for the post. Interesting.

I'm still most interested in hearing about any situation where a human gives a verbal order and a computer then carries out the command.

I haven't got any of this tech myself but this is a link that describes what "Alexa" is.

Re: Developing artifical intelligence

I hate being so dense but do I understand correctly the following?

Alexa, turn on kitchen lights.

Alexa, open garage door.

Alexa, call ambulance.

Alexa, Play Moody Blues.

Alexa, find then play movie "Lawrence of Arabia".

It can do all of that ?

Alexa really does react to the human voice and she laughs at jokes too... she also reminds you to take an umbrella if the forecast is rain and plays any track of music or artist you fancy she is a friendly robot

Robots in movies scare me daft though especially those fighting ones that chase people...can do without ever meeting one of those.

Yes, and so do the other ones like her.

It's not such a massive leap to imagine "manual" robots with voice recognition, you can rest assured they exist, probably in the military.

Re: Developing artifical intelligence

Interesting stuff. It looks like sometime in the immediate future artificially intelligent, sentient beings, will become "companions. Though I suspect it will be quite long before we ever see anything like "Data" from Star trek.

Then we'll have Robot Politicians who do everything according to the rule book.

When you think of how many crappy rules there are, in the rule book, we'll all be doomed.

You might be lucky, having Trump, as it would be difficult to make a robot like him!

Please, people. Is it really necessary to bash trump at every opportunity ?
