Re: Taxi drivers who only take cash

I find it interesting when people barter goods for services. Does anyone else have any examples?

Hey, Ciderman. Wanna trade some rhubarb for cherry tomatoes?

Personally I would always use cash for amounts under about £20, it's surprising what is and what is not legal tender though, see link below.

"Many common and safe payment methods such as cheques, debit cards and contactless aren’t legal tender."

Re: Taxi drivers who only take cash

I always ask these days if I need a taxi if they take a card as I rarely have more than 50p in my purse. Round here it's getting rarer to find anyone takes cash and some even discourage cash payers and prefer the card. So much safer for them as people who would rob them are realising they don't carry money anymore. Even vending machines are going cash free and only taking cards.

I just need to sort out some jobs you could help me with .

Regarding paying the taxi by card, it would never have entered my head to do that. I have always paid cash.
If they want to fiddle the books, that's their problem.

I have plenty of tomatoes, just a bit short on rhubarb.
Jobs I can help you with, Mupsy. I know how to delegate.

Re: Taxi drivers who only take cash

I've always paid cash in a taxi. I'm all for moving on with technology but it's one of those things we should hang on to as we progress into an inevitable cash-free society. Like paying cash on a bus also and buying a pint or a newspaper, or even a can of Coke from a vending machine.

I don't use taxis very often, but I would never think to use My card to pay for the journey as it's never more than £3-4.
