She occasionally has to go into hospital after suffering fits (often caused by bladder infections which her inability to move makes worse as she can't "work it through", if you catch my meaning and strong antibiotics have to be given and her progress closely monitored).

She has seen numerous doctors and specialists over the years, none of whom seem to agree with what the others have said. Indeed, in the early days of her illness, one persuaded my bro in law that a brain biopsy needed to be done. In retrospect, this was not only unecessary since they not only couldn't determine a course of action/cure (because it doesn't exist!!), but made things worse as she has had the shakes ever since.

But, I digress.

Not ALL things are understood by everyone. So one should be wary of discounting what might seem absurd, but which curiously has a long history of actually helping!!

Funny old world, eh?
Well she wasn't correct where our son is concerned.

I think you might need to see a doctor about that

Thank you for re-iterating your point.

Of course, one can only presume that, during her working lifetime, she was right more times than not. Unless hardly any of her client base were repeat visits nor through recommendations.

Are you suggesting that she was a scammer?

We knew her well, I wont go into the details of how we were acquainted with her, but she took up reflexology, when she was obliged to leave her previous job. Goodness knows why she decided to delve into the reflexology stupidity, it was completely different to what she did previously. Last I heard, that wasn't going well either.

Ah well, each to their own.

My brother in law left a lucrative career in publishing, retrained in acupuncture and did rather well out of it with many repeats and recommendations (including some "celebrities"). One can only assume that his customers got something out of it.

My only experience of reflexology was when my wife bought me a voucher for a local practitioner. I didn't tell the reflexologist anything much about my other minor aches and pains (I kept the info back out of skepticism), but she did manage to identify most of them from her work on my feet, and indeed the session did produce a degree of respite from a few.

Could be that your acquaintance just wasn't very good at it.

Once more I agree.

This won't do at all.

I can recommend a good reflexologist, if that helps

Re: Alternative Medicines and Treatments.

I know a number of people who have tried alternative therapies who have been damaged by them, so will give them a very wide berth.

Whilst tried and tested medications are not always successful or good for one, I would prefer to rely on science rather than airy fairy nonsense.

Having said that I prefer not to indulge in any sort of medication or therapies. I have anxiety syndrome, and was offered counselling for it, I had a few sessions, but soon gave them up. I have no interest in changing anything about myself, as I wouldn't be me if I did.

Re: Alternative Medicines and Treatments.

Alternative medicines include homeopathic remedies don't they? If so then imho the homeopathic remedies should be thrown out because they are useless to man and beast. I saw a programme on TV a few years back that showed a homeopathic practitioner making up a remedy that contained less than 1 molecule of supposedly active ingredient/litre because he had diluted the solution so much.
