I agree with you Myrtle. I think this fallacy about PMs encouraging people to gossip is unfounded. Some will always want to gossip, others like to use PMs for more personal stuff that we don't want on public show.

That may be your experience, but not mine. Visitors' Messages are also public so not the ideal platform for some more private information.

Yes - a shame its looked upon that way
I use it to keep up with friends that are moving or have worries - sometimes people think of me too, which I appreciate so much
