We all do it Tpin - take risks and try to cut corners to save time, but yours turned out a bit of an expensive slip-up! Oh dear, poor you.
Look on the bright side though, at least it didn't damage the flooring underneath, (is it wood?) that would have cost you even more.
It will cost, but at least it's replaceable, you might not have been had you spilled it all down yourself.
