Maigret

Anyone see this tonight?

I watched it while I was doing my ironing, and enjoyed it.
I've never seen Rowan Atkinson being serious before and I was pleasantly surprised.

Is it a one-off or a weekly thing, anyone know?

Oh, thanks Eliza, I didn't hear them say that.

Yes, I enjoyed it too. Thought Rowan Atkinson played the part well, it was a very well controlled performance.

Re: Maigret

Very good. Except I expected Constable Goody to pop up!
No, seriously it was better than I thought it would be, I just wish someone would think of something other than crime drama to put on TV, practically every other program is a crime drama.
Do prefer the "vintage" ones though.

Yes, I enjoyed it too. I thought RA played the part well. Kept thinking he was going to turn into Mr Bean though.

Re: Maigret

Tried to watch it but found it interminably slow!

I vaguely remember Rupert Davies's Maigret but immediately thought Mr Bean but watched 40 minutes nodding off most of the time.

Mind you, we'd been out earlier so perhaps I'm being unfair.

We watched Grantchester from a week ago - but fell asleep! stevmk2

Re: Maigret

There are singular scenes in "Johnny English" where Atkinson's "serious talents" can clearly be seen as worth exploiting. In the beginning (when he's navigating the corridors, for example) his poise is top class.
