It is Fitzcarraldo and it is an excellent film albeit the work of a madman.

Cantos by Pound, recited half done on the Amazon.
fits + corral (recited = sounds like) + do(ne) + the film is the account fo taking a steamship uo the Amazon to Manaus to build an opera house, it based on a true event.

The Lewis Carroll reference is to The Hunting of the Snark, which is subtitled An Agony in Eight Fits
