Our small town was a village when we came to live here. I doubt anyone visits it as it isn't particularly historic.
We are close to Dartmoor but there are many more nicer towns near Dartmoor that people go to rather than here.

Primary school bubble sent home after suspected Covid case

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/coronavirus

Sixty pupils and a number of staff at a primary school in Truro have been sent home because of a suspected case of Covid-19.

The decision was made at Tregolls School after one parent tested positive for coronavirus and a child was awaiting results, staff said. As a precautionary measure, the school has decided all children in that bubble must stay at home, they added.

Head teacher Lara Jeffries said it was hoped test results would be back "hopefully Wednesday or Thursday". She added: "Then we just really want to get children back into school as quickly as we possibly can".
Therein lies an example of the disruptive ramifications of badly run testing - only 1 family unit was "positive" and therefore required to isolate but over 60 other family units have now been requested to adopt temporary isolation procedures - so that's over 60 sets of parents/grandparents/childminders, etc. required to give up work, caring, etc. and perhaps have to make travel arrangements to reach a testing centre then await results, a process which could involve travelling several hundred miles and lasting a week or more .....

That's just ONE school - there will be hundreds over the coming weeks .....

Coronavirus: Government to prioritise NHS and care homes for testing

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-54172210

The government will publish details of its plan to prioritise coronavirus tests in the next few days, after widespread problems with the system.

Top of the list will be NHS staff and patients, and those in care homes.

It comes as the mayor of Greater Manchester - home to England's highest infection rate - said time was running out to fix the testing system.

"I think we have two or three weeks to fix these things," mayor Andy Burnham told the BBC's Newsnight programme. "If we don't, the worry is we'll never gain control as we head into autumn and winter."
Nothing will be "fixed" by deferring everyone in the UK BUT NHS and care homes for testing - that's a defensive posture when positive action is required .....

Coronavirus: Rhondda Cynon Taff to go into lockdown

A second county in Wales will go into lockdown because of the rate of coronavirus cases.

People living in Rhondda Cynon Taff will have restrictions imposed on their daily lives.

From 18:00 BST on Thursday, people will not be able to enter or leave the area without a reasonable excuse, such as travel for work or education.

All licensed premises will have to shut at 23:00 every day, once the lockdown comes into effect.

Health Minister Vaughan Gething said there had been a "rapid" rise in cases, with 82.1 infections per 100,000 people over the past seven days.

The latest equivalent figure across the whole of Wales is 21.4 per 100,000.

It's higher than that because you have to take account of those who cannot get a test at the mo. Winter is coming...

Coronavirus: Restrictions expected in north-east England

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-54166256
Almost 2,000,000 people in north-east England are expected to face local restrictions as coronavirus cases rise. Northumberland, Newcastle, Sunderland, North and South Tyneside, Gateshead and County Durham council areas are in discussions to get the measures. These may include pubs closing earlier and restrictions on households mixing.

A full announcement detailing the new measures for the North East is expected later on Thursday.

That's another large part of the UK under "special measures" ......
