Of course, I'm sure that without walls and fences, some goods would have found their way across unchecked as well.

So what's the difference after the end of the year? I'm sure that there will still be checks at the border, just as there used to be in the good old days.

And of course, just as the Frogs do, we could turn a blind eye if it would suit us!

Hi

Times have changed JBR.

The Good Friday Agreement means no checks at crossing.

We have been in the EU for over 40 years, things are very different now.

Back then I was working the Suffolk Ports, no paperwork, no entry.

Easy Peasy.

No problem. No checks as far as we're concerned.

The EU can impose checks, by all means.
If the IRA don't like it, let them take the matter up with the EU.
If the Irish-Americans don't like it, let them take the matter up with the EU.
If the WTO don't like it, let them take the matter up with the EU.

I don't see why we should be dictated to by everyone else, now we're finally shaking off the shackles of the EU.

Of course, there is another benefit.
If Eire doesn't like being out on a limb and paying us to transport goods the easy way - through the UK - they can follow us out of the EU. Problem solved.

The EU is going to collapse anyway; many people think so.

Not all. I have known some decent Irish people and they were never like that. Mind you, they live in this country. Perhaps it's different over there.

As for their politicians...! Of course, politicians are the same the world over.

Looking at their neighbours choice, and what it is to bring them, the irish came up with a better solution.

Hopefully, this will mean that all the "Travellers" will now be able to bypass the UK and go straight to the EU!

What a bonus that will be!

Yes, I'd be all in favour of giving them free passage to Europe, but they'd have to have a police escort to make sure they don't stop anywhere on the way.

Thanks to the gfa they already have free passage to the republic, which is part of the european union. As for europe, england is part of it since times pre-historic.
