What's this please?

A few days ago I noticed these little growths popping up in the corner of my lawn. I have no idea what it is and the plant app on my phone calls it unidentified!!

Can anybody help please?

Could be anything .
Have you had any love in the mist or forget me nots in your garden ?
My are popping up by the million.

On the other hand could be thistles until the next leaves come along it will be difficult to identify .

No. The leaves are very small making identification tricky. Anyway regardless of what they are I presume you don't want them spreading and taking over your lawn so you will need to apply a liquid lawn weedkiller. Use a spray rather than a watering can. Lawn weedkiller is a "selective" weed killer and will only kill weeds, not grass, whereas, a general purpose weedkiller will kill everything green.

Sometimes they can be spread by birds Carol, is there some bird feed close by that could spread seeds onto your lawn?

Not fair...we only get barley growing from our bird seed!

They look like sycamore seedlings but hard to tell from a photo.
Is there a sycamore tree growing nearby?

Edit: Actually I think the ends of the leaves are too round for sycamore.

Re: What's this please?

They're gone now - Tony mowed the lawn today.

Mind you - he mowed up half of my fledgling grass that I'd set from seeds a few weeks ago. Not to pleased about that!!

That's it! I was trying to think why they are so familiar.
