Last Night of the Proms

I must say it was pretty uninspiring stuff tonight. The African soprano murdered Jerusalem in a new arrangement apparently, and also that good old number, You'll never walk alone got the same dirge treatment. There was supposed to be a chorus, all I could see was a few bods well scattered about the place. Then of course the obligatory celebs on video screens, contributing nowt. All finished up with The National Anthem sung so slowly, and without any enthusiasm, that one assumed the the Beeb did it's best to make the whole experience as painful as possible!

Didn't watch it myself but it's being slagged off on Twitter too.

Hi

Better than nothing.

They can swan off with changing the words.

Agreed. It was still a tear-fest chez moi though.

Anyone count the number of EU flags being waved at the Chelsea Hospital? I counted just 2!

So nothing to do with the rules around COVID, then? But, thinking about it, giving a load of the oh-so-funny buffoons who ruin the LNOTP every year a deadly virus would be very beneficial thing.

You have to hand it to the BBC, they won't give in easily will they.

I just wish I could get back the wasted time one spent on this travesty, and insipid load of woke nonsense. Would have been better for the Beeb not to have bothered at all, and just run last years do!

Re: Last Night of the Proms

I went to the Proms in the late 60s or early 70s to see Beethovens 9th Symphony and to the last night (different years), it was a wonderful experience I shall treasure.

The Albert Hall was always my favourite venue despite its appalling acoustics, it had atmosphere, I saw many great and not so great bands there too including Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band.

I make you right John. I normally catch some of it each year but this year I didn't bother.
