Given that no-one strays from a happy marriage, why is it only the women that are to blame? Have men stopped leaving their wives over the past 20 years or so?

So let me see if I've got this straight: men have abandoned their families and gone off with younger women for goodness knows how long but it only became a problem once women started walking away from marriage?

Methinks the lady is ignoring a bloody great elephant in the room. While a grand total of 32,522 50+ couples divorced in 2011 (presumably necessitating some 30,000 extra properties), during the same 12 month period, there was net immigration of 240,000 people from other countries. As we are always being told by those who are pro mass immigration, most immigrants are young, single people who work, so those 240,000* cause much greater pressure on housing than middle-aged women ever could.

* that is if you can believe these figures which many feel are a serious underestimate of the real immigration figures.

Yes, I think you're missing the point of what she is saying.

When a couple split at the age described they require two separate dwellings where only one was required before. When a man leaves a wife for another woman the dwellings required is the same as before ie two families (or at least three people) requiring two dwellings.

It is not about morality its about a housing crisis caused by the extra demand.

who says Penelope Keith is a well qualified sociologist I thought she was an actress ? - and anyway even if she is a sociologist she should be described as a qualified sociologist not ' a well qualified sociologist' - I don't understand this description is this just meant to emphasize someone?
