Horrifying really, when a child of 13 had a child here a few years ago they baby was eventually taken into care but not before the SS allowed her to try to rear it herself. Used to see the poor little mite abandoned on the ground by the swings while her mother drank beer and smoked with her friends or nipped into the bushes with a boy. Baby failed to thrive was the term used we were amazed poor thing even survived !
Girl went onto have 7 by last count babies all taken into care failing to thrive. She is 23 now and living back with her mum.

she can't buy them herself and if she could where would she get the money?

I was thinking much the same Meg.
Such a tragedy that the child has 'lost' her own childhood. She would certainly be better off without the influence of her own mother.
