12yr old mum and 13yr old dad

Such a shame, I think and I believe grandma is 27?

........and her dad says he's proud of her !!! It's one thing to be supportive but it's quite another to let her think she's done something clever.

That's obviously the problem the family seem to think being supportive is agreeing with what the children do and encouraging them, bet the word no is a rarity in their home.

Re: 12yr old mum and 13yr old dad

I think it's shocking that a child has a child, I know this is not the dark ages but, really?!
The fact that a 13year old fathered the baby should make no difference, he should be prosecuted, a message has to be sent out that this is not clever and it's never right that an 11 year old is having a sexual relationship, I don't care how well developed she appears to be.

So I take it she is going to keep the baby... Not give her up for adoption. That is going to be very rough..

On a side note... I love the British expression of "falling pregnant" My mind conjures up a picture of a girl accidentally falling on a penis.. lol!!!

It's not a term everyone uses, Audreyll, I know I don't!! Never heard a member of my family use it either but it seems to be an acceptable term in modern Britain.

Re: 12yr old mum and 13yr old dad

Is there a race to become the youngest ever parent?!

I read the father's comments and I want to shake him. True, he says he has money and can support them financially, but she is still a child. I either predict problems, or the grandparents taking up full raising of the baby.

I wouldn't want to see the children punished they have been punished enough with the consequences of their actions but child neglect is what their parents are guilty of IMO. That age they should know where the children are and what they are doing

Re: 12yr old mum and 13yr old dad

I can't envisage a happy life for the baby or the young parents!

They can hardly be given a home of their own - they are still not old enough.
The grandparents will have to take the child on and by the time the mother is old enough to date, she will have a four year old in tow!

Neither do I think you can apportion the blame on the grandparents.
You must be able to trust your 11/12 yr olds.
The young dad, must take a great deal of blame..he knew that it was an offence, surely, to have sex with an under age girl? Not a very responsible lad, and no idea what a condom was?

A completely sad state of affairs, and the innocent baby? I just hope she grows up happy, whoever does the child rearing.

Yes Janela, I feel for the baby born into that situation just hope the little mite is happy and loved by all.
Had to look twice at the article as the grandmother is only 27....she, herself, was a very young mother then. I think the years 11 and above are very difficult ones and you have to have eyes in your b*m!! but it goes with the terriritory!
