Well I read number 1 and was, well confused. So the writer appears to agree we have moved on and our faith is now more moderate he/she chose to judge the Christian religion on what happened previously in earlier times.

So my confusion is was this reasons today or previous times in history ?

I refuse to give it up for what happened years ago.

Re: 20 reasons to abandon Christianity

I used to say I was christian, but nowadays I don't. I can't quite believe there is a super human somewhere who looks over the world and commands it. I did think that at one stage in my life. I prefer to think that we all have a choice of how we live our lives. To be "christian like" to me is to be kind, gentle, caring, unassuming, just to be there for people. That makes sense to me. It makes more sense to me than certain religions these days who have fanatics and cause more harm than good. Surely that can't be called religion? Not in my book it isn't. I'm happy where I am. Maybe that is being "Christian"?

My religion is closer to Quakerism so you would fit in well Myra, it's more about helping people and society than big shows like many churches. We even have atheists in our meetings.

I could accept Christianity..........apart from believing in an all powerful supreme being.

Julie, Quakerism isn't a religion I know much about. I'd love to hear more about it.

You won't go far wrong looking at the website http://www.quaker.org.uk/ most of us don't believe in a deity exactly as we believe god is in us and all around us. It's up to us to live simple peaceful helpful lives and while I try I admit I am not as good as some.

Quaker (the Religious Society of Friends ) were dissenting Protestants emerging in the 17th century . I have known many Quakers and they would consider themselves to be followers of the Christian religion .
