I was about 20 and bought some hold up stockings, all dressed up in tight skirt and high heels i was walking to the dance on my own along a busy main road and but by bit I could feel each stocking slowly rolling down my legs, I tried discreetly to roll them up on top of my straight skirt they kept rolling and rolling and yes eventually they ended up round my blooming ankles like dark socks with roll tops
OMG I'm still.humiliated 50 years on . How embarrassing, I had to pull them off and I had white legs too .
I cant write any more I need smelling salts

Just a note ~ No one has said how slippery and shiny nylons felt when a hand caressed the leg....I have worn them, then when pantyhose came on the scene, so much easier, but still, that silky feel, and made me feel more feminine than the bare legs. I never minded donning them when I wore my skirts. Ah, those were the days.

If they were seamed, you had to make sure the seams were straight.
You used to get very annoyed if you got a ladder in them.
Does anyone have any stories of when they used to wear them. Would you wear them now?
Would never dream of wearing tights - did try them when they fist appeared but they are nylon or lycra, hot sticky and nasty (shudders)
