Re: Biden vs Trump: who is leading the 2020 US election polls

When do we usually get a US election result?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-us-2020-54096399

The result is usually called on the night of election day, which this year is Tuesday 3 November.

Different states stop voting at different times. The first polls close on the East Coast at 19:00 local time (00:00 GMT).

This is followed by a running total of votes as they are reported in each state.

The full count is never completed on election night - but enough votes are usually in to confirm a winner.

A state is "called" by major US media outlets when they believe one candidate has an unbeatable lead.

But at this stage, when most but not all of the votes will have been counted, this is a projection, not the final result.

To win the White House, 270 electoral votes are needed.

In 2016, the election was called for Donald Trump at about 02:30 EST (07:30 GMT), after victory in Wisconsin put him over the 270.
Needless to say, it won't be the same this year - it could be days before a provisional result and weeks before a final announcement.

Watching the live coverage of the counting in the US election, Biden is not looking good in the Dumb versus Dumber election.

Too close to call. Biden is not far enough ahead according to the commentators BUT it is not over yet so one can only hope.

I see the even-brighter-orange Trump is threatening to take it to the high court if Bidden beats him!
He is making himself look sillier every passing hour.

God, how could you live with that man!

The dems are trying to rig the votes, as they have been doing since the start of mail-in voting. In some states, more votes have been cast than people that live there (LA I think it was) in others there have been Trump ballot boxes thrown into verges and into public bins to escape the count.

We saw this in the last election too, when the Dems tried to rig the vote by accusing the Republicans of Russian interference. Meanwhile in some states, such as Pennsylvania, voting continues ... how is that democratic when the voting is supposed closed ?

As usual, in time the truth comes out, just like it did with Trumps impeachment, Russian interference in 2016 and the rest of the accusations that were bestowed on Trump, all of them thrown out of court because it was proven to be untrue.,

Reality Check: No, Trump hasn't won

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/elec...-2020-54786937

President Trump says he’s already won the US election despite many uncounted votes in battleground states that could tip the balance either way.

“We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we did win this election,” he said in a televised speech from the White House. “Most importantly, we’re winning Pennsylvania by a tremendous amount of votes. We’re coming into good Pennsylvania areas where they happen to like your president.”

Trump is currently leading there with 55.7% to Joe Biden’s 43% - with 74% of votes counted. However, Philadelphia, the largest city in the state, has only reported 48% - and it leans heavily towards Joe Biden.

“We’re winning Michigan,” said Trump. “And 65% of the vote is in. And we’re winning Wisconsin.”

Detroit, the largest city in Michigan, has a large number of votes outstanding. In Wisconsin, the Democratic-leaning city of Milwaukee has reported less than half of its votes.

What about the southern state of Georgia - is that still in play?

Trump said: “It’s also clear we have won Georgia”.

However, although over 90% of the vote has been counted, it’s still a toss-up. There are still a significant number of votes to be declared in the state’s largest city Atlanta.

Dream on ....

Wisconsin and Nevada are the only two states neck and neck - at the moment if these stay with Biden in the lead, Trump will still have won. The votes counted now are the walk-ins so this could change in the next few hours and flip to the Republicans. That would put Trump on about 310

And so the cheating by the Democrats begins, with very suspect mail-in ballot counts suddenly giving Biden the edge in Michigan and Wisconsin.

This is outrageous....

Re: Biden vs Trump: who is leading the 2020 US election polls

It is going to be quite awhile before we know the outcome of the presidential election. many counties in 6 states are still counting all the ballots, and it may be the end of the week before we know.

It may come as a surprise to some, but the total votes, ON A NATIONAL LEVEL, mean nothing what-so ever. The U.S. determines the winner by a system of "electoral college" votes. What that means is each state is granted a certain number of electoral college votes, which is based on that states population. The winner in a particular state takes all of the electoral college votes granted to that state. (winner take all).

REPEAT: A presidential candidate could gather more votes ON A NATIONAL LEVEL, and still lose the election. If you should hear that candidate 'X' is leading in the NATIONAL COUNT OF INDIVIDUAL VOTERS, pay no attention to it.

By which time Trump's head might finally have exploded or Biden has succumbed fully to dementia.
