It's about time people leaned that our media cannot act as judge and jury and cannot pass sentence.

Erm ... who needs the media when the internet is rife with armchair critics and self-acclaimed experts. You don''t have to go far to fall over one either.

Widespread support expressed there if you will forgive the pun.
Bleeding hell you just told us to ignore the biased media. You called them judge and jury.

Get away with ya .... you're a cherry picker in your spare time aren't you.

Re: Senior Home Office official QUITS after vicious rows with Priti Patel

There are times that the only way to take a self appointed cabal operating under their own agenda which has become different from the objectives set to them by the "employers" is to pick them up by the ears and shake them untill their eyes cross and start to "walk the line".

If they don't like it and won't do what they get paid to do then they have two options. One is to change what they are doing, the second is to get out.

Ms Patel and her ilk are precisely what is needed to drain the civil service swamp because swamp it certainly now is.

So if your daughter came home from work complaining that her boss treated her in a disagreeable manner I take it you'd tell her to grow a pair and do her job properly?

It's a basic right for anyone to go about their work without bullying or intimidation ... which is why we all see signs now on buses or in GP surgeries or banks reminding the public that their employees have the right to go about their work without hindrance/abuse/bullying or harassment.

Had the report found her to be innocent, that would be a different matter.
Had she worked in the private sector , with a company reputation to consider I'm sure it would have been handled differently.
Job for life; incremental wage increases and promotion regardless
of proficiency; pensions on a par with last wages; free sick scheme;
Free further training if required; PLUS wages out of step with private
employment !! Did l miss out holidays??
THE LIFE OF A CIVIL SERVANT !!
No wonder they dont want to change ?

Oh dear, have I upset your delicate sensibilities?
Shame.
Not.

Sensible, sane people are capable of recognizing that weasle words are not conclusive evidence you know so I am sure that I'm sane; are you though for believing those weasle words? - and watch out!
Your delicate demeanour is about to be truly assaulted soon.

Ooh and you're obviously not aware that quite a movement is afoot to reform the quangoist civil service.
Including our own Prime Minister who said he wants reform.

It would seem so when yet another - yourself in this instance - insists upon having their tuppenceworth.

Ah so this is the stuff you don't like ....... gotcha.
It's okay when misleading opinionated carp is posted though.
And never mind that the whole report is wishy-washy hearsay, eh?

Well you won't like the increasing push from some in government demanding an apology for civil servants for their behaviour!
“it’s the civil service who should be apologising, they’ve been found wanting yet again. Whether it’s windrush, lost passports or failing to deport rapists and murderers they blame mistakes on others and then expect an apology.”

https://order-order.com/2020/11/20/t...civil-service/

More sanity in wanting reform then - from people far more knowledgable and involved than either you or I.
And they want civil service reform.

Fortunately it looks very much like our elected government will do what is required.
Those that do not like it can carry on spitting dummies ineffectively.

You missed out the nepotism, especially of those occupying prominent positions in the Civil Service.
Rutnam is, as has been suggested but not explicitly said, an excellent example.
His career has been described as an omnishambles in some quarters.

He made some huge blunders - especially as Permanent Secretary at The Dept. Of Transport (any normal employee would have been dismissed for those costly blunders) but also:
"There was also an irony in Rutnam being, at one point, the civil service disability champion. After nearly a year of him being in the post, the Institute for Government said that 28% of disabled civil servants reported discrimination. Also, in his last year at the DfT in 2016, 17 people in the department said they faced disability discrimination."
https://www.thecanary.co/trending/20...patel-scandal/

It is very clear where Rutnams loyalties lay, and it is certainly not with the government.

Re: Senior Home Office official QUITS after vicious rows with Priti Patel

Jeremy Clarkson puts it into perspective:
"A senior civil servant who resigned from the Home Office in a huff has said that his former boss, Priti Patel, was horrid.

"Sir Philip Rutnam went on the news this week to say she used to shout and swear and that she was frightening."

Clarkson continued: "At this point I did start to think, 'Oh for God's sake, you're a grown man - grow a pair'.

"Everyone who's seen Sir Humphrey in Yes Minister knows that it's a civil servant's job to stop ministers from doing anything."
