Sweeney Todd - 2006
I sometimes get the feeling that Ray Winston is an actor that people that people take to or don't at all, the Marmite thing.
This BBC production has a special place in my DVD collection and certainty doesn't gather dust.
I really do enjoy the " Hogarthian " angle in this drama and Ray Winston plays the lead role with a kind of tragic sympathy. Tom Hardy is terrific as the young Bow Street Runner, you can almost see the cog's turning in his mind as he begins to piece together the evidence.
Highly recommended if you like historical drama, not one for the overly sensitive though.
