A decade after his death, why now?

Re: Sir Edward Heath

Because of Jimmy Saville, people feel able to speak up - in this case Heath is no longer with us, so I thought the same - why now, but - it also gives more strength to the ongoing investigation into Parliament and the paedophiles amongst them - so if it shakes things up, its a good thing
Beware - you will be found out !

Re: Sir Edward Heath

This is no comment on whether anyone is guilty or innocent but I think there should be some law saying no one can be tried like this after their death. Our courts allow people a defence and this sort of thing is contrary to that entirely.

Re: Sir Edward Heath

Other high-profile political figures are facing allegations:
Lord Leon Brittan
Sir Cyril Smith
What is the point, the establishment protect their own.

I entirely agree with you on this one, Julie.

My feeling is that if it really happened they should have the guts to act while the person is still alive - not wait until they are dead and unable to answer the charges/face the consequences.

Band wagons and Money grabbing come to mind.

An inquiry has been launched into an alleged cover-up of child sex allegations, amid claims that a prosecution against an individual was shelved after a threat was made to ''expose'' the Conservative politician.

Superintendent Sean Memory of Wiltshire Police said: ''The allegation is that a trial was due to take place in the 1990s and information was received in that trial that Sir Ted Heath was involved in the abuse of children and the allegation is from the result of that information that the trial never took place.
''A retired senior police officer has come forward towards the end of 2014 indicating that they were aware of this information.

so there's your answer the man did make a complaint when Heath was alive, but it was covered up

Re: Sir Edward Heath

Apparently there are now four police forces investigating Ted Heath, has no-one told them he's been dead ten years.....

If they need to investigate something it should be the cover up, you can't prosecute the dead.....

As with the majority of cases that were 'ignored'

Couldn't agree more Plantman, I think it about some jobsworth justifying their job, it is going to do no good whatsoever only cost the public money.
