Sue darlin' - I think you mean you want to purchase the FREEHOLD on the property, as since you're already living there I presume you already have a lease and are therefore a LEASEHOLDER.

Dragon (my Mother) lived in a block of flats which were on leasehold and she had to pay Ground rent to the freeholder, plus maintenance and cleaning of commonways.

Yes Uncle Joe you are quite right sorry I wrote it wrong we only pay the ground rent which is only £30 per year in 2 installments of £15 our lease has about 67 years to run so won't really affect us in our lifetime we just wanted to buy it to make life easier for our Daughter when she inherits it but it won't be worth it to us to pay too much for it....Sue
