Clumsy, I hope you’re ok. It must’ve been very scary.
Nowhere near me Art, I'm on the Costa Blanca. It was the very sudden and very loud noise that made me jump, it only last seconds.

Hardly national news Puddle Duck. It was on the N332 facebook page within minutes and it will certainly be in the local papers. It's referred to as a tremor, it was certainly an extremely loud tremor. You will need to look at Murcia area news.

I grew up mostly in California and these were the most fun sort of earthquakes. It felt a lot like standing on a blanket stretched over water. The other type were the rattling sort - the kind that knocked things off of shelves, caused sloshing waves in the swimming pool, and rattled the dishes.

We used to have earthquake drills in school that involved running up the nearest hillside as our school was located inconveniently at the base of a dam.

Glad you are safe, but what an experience!

Re: We've just been earthquaked!

Thank you Surfermom. Everywhere is okay, as far as I know, it was all noise and virtually no shaking. We had one a few years ago which caused damage to boats in the harbour and cracks in buildings. Also not too many years ago there was one in Lorca, not too far away, which practically destroyed the town.

I'm in Murcia region Shirley, the bit where we wait longingly to use our posh wellies and umbrellas, but never seem to get the chance.

Re: We've just been earthquaked!

Just got this info. The quake was magnitude 2.3, epicentre west of Torrevieja, depth 11 km.

There had been 3 rumbles earlier, which to us sounded in the distance.

So not a big one like the one some years ago, which was 6.2, but a very loud one.
