My mate Murtagh is always with me in the kitchen. I would like to think he is keeping me company but really he is waiting for any food I drop on the floor.

I used to hate having anyone in the kitchen when I was cooking ....getting in the way and distracting me.

That isn't a problem now...

When l am cooking for a lot of people, l don’t want anyone in the kitchen and l don’t want anyone to talk to me.
My brain is in deep concentration and if anyone speaks and l have to answer, then l lose my line of thought!

As I did all the cooking, I didn't use to mind the grandkids coming into the kitchen when I was cooking as long as they took an interest in what I was doing and not just there for being nosy. I taught them how to cook by getting them involved in the process just as my old mum did to my siblings and me when we were kids.

Judd, l always think of you when l make pastry in my Magimix food processor. You wrote in a thread a long time ago, that you should mix the flour and fats on ‘Pulse’.
I had always, mixed them on ‘On’ and that mixed them to smithereens!

I found your advice, invaluable and my pastry is lovely now!
