New young(ish) member

Hello everyone. I'm John, definitely fiftysomething (think its 53 this year, but have attained an age where precision is no longer required), and finding myself at a crossroads in my life.

Should I follow the Victor Meldrew path of grumpiness, or embrace the inevitability of change and trip merrily down the highway to hell.....?

Apart from that I'm unemployed, stuck in outer London, and looking for a way out of this place before I hit 70. Any tips would be appreciated.
