Broad Beans.

Having podded my beans I've got 8lbs from one 5yard row- not bad.

That sound pretty good Alan particularly considering the unusual weather conditions we have had .

I don't have room to grow broad beans but have started picking my runner beans, 4lb so far off my few canes.
The beans are shorter this year and some are curved . There will be quite a nice crop though.

I don't have room for Broad beans either, but well done you Alan
My runners are not big enough to pick yet, and I think they will be smaller this year too. Some plants have not reached the top of the canes yet!

Think the crops will be pretty dour round here, we have had hardly any sun at all.Today we have had showers, not nice little showers ,thumping great big ones. Its almost August and we will have about two months of summer if that and we will be getting down ready for winter then.

Re: Broad Beans.

Well done Alan, sounds a really good crop. My broad beans haven't done very well at all, with just a couple of pounds from a 6` row. Most of the pods were large but the beans inside were very few and many were very underdeveloped. More early fuel for the compost heap I'm afraid....
