Without the American military NATO will be toothless, we, the British have more fighter aircraft in Hendon Air Force museum than we have operational, Switzerland has more main battle tanks than us.
Not to worry though, in the event of hostilities the British Goverment will outsource our defence to G4S.

I don't think that America would walk away anyway. Even they rely to an extent on us: Fylingdales and Menwith Hill are just two important assets on our soil. Fylingdales forms one of three strategically placed radar installations (along with Alaska and Greenland) covering the most likely direction from which Russian ICBMs would approach (them), and Menwith Hill is a 'listening' station for this part of the world.
They have many more military installations here and in Europe and we, to be quite frank, form one of several 'buffer states' for them against threats from the east.

We cannot afford to go to war if America is on our side. Now that the POTUS is also a businessman any future help from the US will cost. So, hide your daughters and the best cutlery, Donald is coming.
