It has nothing to do with valuing children at all.

Children are hardy little things, a wee bit of snow isn't going to kill them.

And yes I would send my grandchildren on a 3 mile trek to school as long as they were wrapped up.

Would you rather I stuffed them full of junk food until they were obese? That seems to be the trend these days.

So So True, Even my Kids didn't get Taxied Everywhere. They wanted to go into Town after School or Saturday....They Walked. If I was going, sure they'd get a lift then but otherwise it was Shanks's Pony.

If it was still snowing in the afternoon, we were allowed to go home an hour or so earlier.
Hear hear to both of you.

Re: All stop, a snow flake.

My little brother and I also had to walk to school in deep snow back in the mid to late 50s and, when we got there, there was no central heating in the classrooms like there is today. I clearly remember having lessons in my coat and scarf because it was perishing.

As for driving in the snow. What's the problem there? During the 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 heavy snow here in Lancashire, I got to work, but I did have to dig out my back axle before I could move the car.

Mindst, not many folk actually know how to drive in those conditions as it isn't easy, but I was lucky enough to be able to learn on a skid pad when I lived in Berlin.

Namby pamby. Too true! They're all mardy little wenches these days, and that includes the teachers, both male and female.

We've had a couple of centimetres of snow fall here tonight, but I'll bet a pound to a penny that there will be an announcement tomorrow that some schools have closed because of the snow. Soft sods!

Snowflake? I think not. This is the temperature on my back patio at 1pm.

Go on, walk to school in this.
