Lottery farce

So, in future, they are gonna charge £2 a ticket line for Lotto....
I hope this idea backfires and they lose out...
Looks like I wont be moving - any time soon.....

Re: Lottery farce

I don't think they will lose out lets face it we do the lottery because for a few moments every week we think we have a chance of becoming millionaires. I feel sorry for people like my mother in law who are on a fixed income but I know very well she will carry on hoping that one day she can make a phone call to tell us that we can stop worrying about our finances that she is rich beyond her wildest dreams.

No, £2 is still cheap for a wild dream.

Re: Lottery farce

The Euro lottery is £2 anyway so I guess they want to make it the same price for ours.

Re: Lottery farce

If people work out how much they have spent of the lottery, over the years, to no avail, they will realise how crazy it is to do it. I have no patience with people who whinge about how little they get in pension, benefits etc, yet still find money to waste on the lottery, scratchcards etc!

Re: Lottery farce

I have never done the lottery

I would rather spend my £1 (or £2 ) on something I can enjoy now rather then on something which is unlikely to happen.

My 'gamble' is premium bonds so I get to have dreams and keep my money .

Re: Lottery farce

There are, of course, two schools of thought on the lotto, the first being that it's "a tax on the stupid", but personally I go with the second, "you've got to be in it top win it".

Years ago I used to spend £2 a week on the Vernons football pools and eventually got 8 draws which made £19,000 that week, but when the lottery started I started to put my £2 on that instead so the change in price though won't affect me, I'll still only spend my £2 per week...

My premium bonds have done extremely well over the years far better than my savings accounts.

Re: Lottery farce

It's a bit of fun - I don't buy a ticket very often but when I have done so - I won a tenner!!

I believe there will be more prizes and less for the first prize, so perhaps more winners will benefit!

I see no harm in buying lottery tickets at all.

Re: Lottery farce

Lotto will be increasing to £2 a line in the Autumn..... this will be the first increase since the game was launched in 1994.

The changes that will be made include:

Bigger prizes for matching three and four numbers – the prize for matching three numbers will more than double, increasing from £10* to £25*.

Bigger jackpots – the average Saturday jackpot is expected to be to around £5 million and Wednesday's jackpot will be around £2.5 million, following the changes to the game.

A new Lotto raffle – at least 50 winners will scoop a guaranteed £20,000 in each Lotto draw, with hundreds more winners created on Rollovers.

You can read all about it here .....
