Powerful pic

I find this a very powerful pic. Says so much. Makes you feel humble.

It certainly brings home the huge sacrifice they made so we can live in peace.

Definitely Cranberry. Makes me think of my great grandfather who died in the the Battle of the Somme, in his twenties. Didn't have a full life and left a wife and three children behind. I think it's only when you get older yourself that you realise how awful it must have been.

Re: Powerful pic

Very thought provoking picture.

The soldiers that fought and either survived or were killed in WWI are the people I hold in the highest esteem and above all others.

I admire all soldiers in any day and age. They're braver than I could ever be.

A real choker Alice. I lost an uncle in the first world war. My mum had a photo of him in her bedroom dressed in his army clothes.

Re: Powerful pic

My dad was in the Somme. He had a piece of shrapnel through his arm so came back to Blighty alive..........one of the lucky ones.
