Bees

I have bees in my tortoise house and was hoping if I took the roof off it for a few days and left it in the sun/rain, they would leave.

No luck, even though I've removed as much straw as I dare, they're still in residence.

Now waiting for a Bee person to ring me

No ... I am NOT going to pick up the nest and move it myself !
(boyfriend's idea)

Re: Bees

I thought bees belong to hives and go back there ?
We had the starting of a wasp nest in a tree in our garden,it was too close to the house so i left it up to my men folk to move it on .over several days they ,kept knocking part off but the wasps continued to make it up again ,eventually they knocked the whole nest off and they went else where .

Re: Bees

Rachel I had a swarm in my garden some years ago and the bee keeper came dressed in his special suit and put them in a straw basket skep and took them away.
He was delighted with them..

Re: Bees

wasps are worse than bees as they'll attack you, I've got friendly bees in my garden that like nothing more than hovering around my plants, funnily enough they don't bother me but if I see a wasp I run a mile!

Re: Bees

I had wasps in the garden last year but managed to deal with them myself ~ there's a pic of their nest somewhere on here.

Hope someone will want my bees Meg

Re: Bees

I've spotted small brown bees going through a crack in my shed, when I looked inside they were marching along a beam into the roof space. I put up an insect house, with bamboo tunnels, they investigated it, hoping they'll move in there.
