Re: Favourite Detective

I gave this plenty of thought and my all time has to be Clouseau --was there ever any finer! He could solve mysteries that weren't there in the first instance -haha.

Re: Favourite Detective

Well, I'd always make "rhuuuum" for Clouseau but my favourite TV tec is Morse.

Book? - well I really enjoyed the generally gentle nature of Alexander McColl Smith's #1
Lady Detective, Precious Ramotswe (loved the TV series but it wasn't quite right - I think they set it just a little too far 'present day'; my Botswana (in my imagination) didn't have night clubs or mobile phones etc)

Film? - er, dunno; I'm hopeless at remembering them. How about The French Connection? But is that a proper detective?

Ooh yes Rebus is good. I've only read the very last - Exit Music - but, lucky me, that means I have all the rest waiting for me!

Re: Favourite Detective

Agreeing fiercely here Moli, though I don't think I've watched any ... unless a strange one with tiny 'dolls' found on Arthurs Seat, and a museum, was a Rebus story.
I believe John Hanna played Rebus too - again I haven't seen it but I don't think he fits the shambles of a character described by Ian Rankine.

Re: Favourite Detective

Thats the problem DM, if you have read the book, the film/tv show never somes up to scratch...I have read a few, then watched the film, not only Rebus, and was very disappointed with the film version...I much prefer the books....
