It seems such a shame, Tiff.
It must be tempting to try and help, but it might be doing more harm than good.

Out of interest I looked up the difference between a chrysalis and a cocoon. This is what it said:

" The chrysalis is a butterfly pupa, which is a hard case which appears after the caterpillar’s final shedding of its skin. It attaches to a leaf via a silk pad spun by the caterpillar.
A cocoon is just a constructed silk casing used by moths and certain other types of insects."

So I gather yours is a Moth, do you think?

It could be a moth as it isn't joined to the window on a top thread, it's joined around it's waist that was. Though it does look as if it's case is hard. See this pic. Taken on the outside of the window, very zoomed as it's high up. Thought I'd posted this but I hadn't.

It's amazing watching the changes Tiff, I hope it makes it to the Spring.

Chrysalis survived storm Bella & is still firmly attached to the window.

Tiff, roughly how big is it?

That's brilliant it survived the Storm Bella.
Let's hope it survives this frost too. It's -1 here tonight already.

Good to see the chrysalis survived Tiff.

I wonder how much longer before it transforms into a moth or a butterfly?

Just under an inch long. Minus 2 here tomorrow.

Could be months, I really don't know. Nor even what it will be.

Yes, Mags, thank you for asking, it's still stuck to the window.
