Water confidence lost

Grace has been having swimming lessons for a few weeks, her confidence while growing wasn't high, at the pool last week she was in a swimming lane (no jumping in allowed) sadly a young man decided to leap in and hit her full on taking her under the water, bit of panic surrounded the incident and life guard had to go in and bring her out.

Consequences of that is she now refuses to go to the pool.

Nathan offered to take her himself but no even her beloved uncle Nate can't get her back in the water.

Any ideas ? I don't want to force her really as she reacts badly to being made to do things we have more success normally with gentler methods.

Probably a bit too early for her Julie, perhaps time may help to ease the fear.

Perhaps a different pool at a quieter time?

Good idea we will have a look next week on holiday must be somewhere in Sussex we can try, doesn't help my husband the real swimmer can't swim at the moment so his confidence is not there for her to tap into, I can't swim never have so I'm no help at all.

You could be a great help Julie, just get in the pool with her in the shallows where you can support her and make her feel safe until her confidence returns. Just getting into the water is a good start surely, it doesn't have to be deep water

Barry I am a lost cause with water I can't even get into the room with a pool, top of beach is close enough to the sea, absolute coward. I think it would freak her more if I was there.

I expect that the yob has now been banned from the pool.

Actually, I don't expect anything of the sort these days: his 'human rights' would be contravened, wouldn't they?

No ban he was asked to leave the area and obey signs which was a little late to say to him I thought.

Then maybe you should face your fears together?
