Cat v Grey Heron.

Taken through the livingroom window.
A stand off in the garden....

Close up of Grey Heron on next doors greenhouse roof.

It has already eaten all our fish, I think that particular Heron has, but I guess it was still hoping.
Cat had other ideas. No idea what cat, never seen it before.
I opened the window & they both scarpered.

I like cats, and I like herons. So I'm really glad the title did not refer to a fight between the two.

Thanks for the replies, Guys.
I think the cat wanted to take the Heron on, but the Heron wanted to be in the pond. They kept glancing at each other then turning away. It was quite funny to watch.

Love cats, fish and herons.
Surprised you haven't got a net over the pond. I had my
4 goldfish for nearly 20 years each but they were always inside
in a massive tank. Cats around where I live would have got
the gold fish if outside. We don't have herons near us.

We had stringing over the pond, but the area was cleared in November to put up a new fence between the gardens & not replaced. Our fish, there were 7 of them left from 26, were all well over 20 years old & very geriatric & I expect the heron had indigestion from eating them.

Lovely photos, I suppose it's easy for herons to help themselves to pond fish, must be like a takeaway to them! We have an otter around taking fish, don't know where it came from but it's been seen in the river that runs through the local High Street.

Thank you, Twizard & everyone else who commented on my thread.
They aren't the shy creatures they used to be & there are more otters around now, though I've never seen one in the wild.
