The end of the free TV licence?

In 2020, the government funding for free TV licences for the over 75's will come to an end. The BBC would like our opinions in what to do for the future. So if you have some spare time, you might want to complete their survey.

I have not looked at it yet so cannot comment.

Re: The end of the free TV licence?

Ive not read all 54 pages , but skipped to what matters to me , who pays and how much ,
Of the 3 thats been put forward , i would be happy at paying Half price license ,
Im against means tested , it makes the elderly look like they are asking for an hand out , and the other was raising the age limit , not everyone is going to reach 80 ,
Paying half the fee seems the fairest of the lot .

I also have not read it yet but I wonder if the licence should be scrapped altogether giving viewers the choice to sign up to alternative providers such as Amazon, Netflicks etc. They could still operate a free or reduced fee for the over 75's.

I've answered the questions...raise the age to 80 and offer 50% off.

I think means testing it would be best idea it's a crazy country where we give everyone a benefit even if they don't need it.

Hi

I have offered to pay the full amount provided the BBC stop making Eastenders and Strictly.
