The Twist – Chubby Checker

Slightly cheating here – not the first but one of them. What caught my attention was how energetic this dancing was and also how slim everyone was in those 1960's days!

Re: What was the first record you bought?

Looking at your posts again l have now got doubts about getting
The correct singers to the songs, The rock of gibralta could have
been guy mitchell not frankie lane.another one l have doubts about
involving frankie lane is johnny cash andghost riders in the sky.
Perhaps someone could enlighten me?

Best Regards, Donkeyman.

I think it was "Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procul Harem or "Albatross" not really sure that I didn't borrow one from my boyfriend though.

If in doubt you can always check them out on You Tube, they are usually all to be found on there. Even down to one song released by several singers can be found. Just key in the song or title and the answers should be there.

Re: What was the first record you bought?

I am sad to say the first record I bought with my own money was a 45 single of Cliff Richard singing "A Girl Like You". I think I still have it.

Prior to that my father would occasionally buy me those awful Embassy records from Woolworths cheap version of copies of hit songs (That is FW Woolworths not the Aussie one)

We used to sing Red Feathers in the public swimming baths,
The sound effects were fantastic.
