Re: Brexit Unicorn Found

Some of us have said all along that the EU will agree to a deal only after we have left.

They are naturally bullies and, when faced with someone willing to stand up to them, will crumble.

Now we need a government that will stick up for this country, rather than a third columnist like May. I wonder who will take over her job and do it properly, if anyone.

Re: Brexit Unicorn Found

Hi

Before we all get too exciting this a very different technology.

It relates solely to goods produced in one EU Country passing through a Non EU Country before arriving in another EU Country.
As both producer and point of sale are in the Single Market there are no duties, sanitary checks, point of origin checks or paperwork required.

That aside Varadkar is playing silly idiots.

The DUP are voting down any Border in the Irish Sea.

We will not get Canada +++, it is not on offer.

We have turned down a simple WTO Free Trade Deal.

This, to my mind is stupidity on our part.

It would eliminate over 90% of checks required at the Irish Border.

The rest could be dealt with by point of production inspections.

Such a deal would also eliminate most of the delays at Dover.

Unfortunately the present Government are not in favour of this.

May and Hammond are still refusing to release the money for a No Deal.

There was a report produced on 21st May for discussion by Cabinet.

They did not present it.

It basically said 85% of what we need for No Deal was planned for, but would take at least 8 Months and a further £1Billion to be released immediately to be put into effect.

I blame our own Politicians, not anyone else.

Shame on them.

You may well continue to be proud about the sheer intransigence of the idiots in Brussels, but I can assure you, things are changing very quickly this side of the channel.
If, as is expected, Boris gets in, he knows Nigel is biting at his backside so he will want to be seen as a tough negotiator to have any chance of the Tory Party not being decimated, so hard hats on Brussels elites, the Brits are coming back for our fair share of piece of cake..........
Yeh, as usual the normal band standing clap trap with out a hint of rationality. Lets send in the gun boat HMS Johson that will sort out the fuzzy wuzzies. And if it doesn't we have always got the reptile.

Good thinking SG

By the way: Brexit: EU breaks up team that negotiated May’s deal in clear sign it will never reopen talks

A pity it is theresa may and not the new pm who will attend the june summit of the european council. UK's progress in ratifying the withdrawal deal will be discussed. Today this was the annotation on the agenda for this summit:

No-deal' Brexit: European Commission takes stock of preparations ahead of the June European Council (Article 50)

Ahead of the June European Council (Article 50), the European Commission has today taken stock – in its fifth Brexit Preparedness Communication – of the European Union's Brexit preparedness and contingency measures, particularly in light of the decision taken on 11 April by the European Council (Article 50), at the request of and in agreement with the United Kingdom, to extend the Article 50 period to 31 October 2019. In light of the continued uncertainty in the United Kingdom regarding the ratification of the Withdrawal Agreement – as agreed with the UK government in November 2018 – and the overall domestic political situation, a ‘no-deal' scenario on 1 November 2019 very much remains a possible – although undesirable – outcome. Since December 2017, the European Commission has been preparing for a ‘no-deal' scenario. To date, the Commission has tabled 19 legislative proposals, 18 of which have been adopted by the European Parliament and Council. Political agreement has been reached on the remaining proposal – the contingency Regulation on the EU budget for 2019 –, which is expected to be formally adopted later this month. The Commission has also adopted 63 non-legislative acts and published 93 preparedness notices. In light of the extension of the Article 50 period, the Commission has screened all these measures to ensure that they continue to meet their intended objectives. The Commission has concluded that there is no need to amend any measures on substance and that they remain fit for purpose. The Commission does not plan any new measures ahead of the new withdrawal date.
