On Country files, today. There was a call for brits to take a job in harvesting. An initial response of 30,000!

Then the selection process started, and up to last thursday 112 contracts were signed. The program had no answer to the reason for this.

Re: Romanian fruit pickers

Maybe some of the reasons for British workers not taking the harvesting / picking jobs on offer are to be found within this article:

"Thousands of British workers who responded to a nationwide appeal to help pick fruit and vegetables on farms have rejected job offers, it has emerged.

As hundreds of workers are being flown in from Romania to pick lettuce and asparagus, specialist recruitment firms revealed that fewer than 20% of the applicants were either willing or able to take up roles on the farms."

NO TO ROMANIANS, NO TO KENYAN STRING BEANS

Let's see the 2020 harvest fail.

Let's see 2021, the people take these farms, with committees, with show trials for Countryfile Matt Baker & that ginger farmer.

The year 2022 sees invasion of Scotland, lebensraum, plant a ton of potatoes for the people of Birmingham + folk/and ship enemy Scots + Sturgeon to the Isle of Man. [use military + RAF + prison service/retirees]

From LBC online, maybe Magic.

And THAT is sufficient reason to bring these probably infected scabs into our country?

I DON'T THINK SO.

Nor do I .
I have nothing against the Romanians they are taking their opportunities but it would seems the agricultural industry is not making it easy for British workers.

Only ship them to the corrupt Isle of Man if they're at the most infective stage of Covid-19.

I lost a not a huge but nevertheless not insignificant sum of money in the collapse of Kaupthing, Singer and Friedlander Isle of Man bank. The astonishing thing was that whereas the FSA in any even half decent administration includes at least a watching brief over financial institutions registered on the territory the rotten corrupt Isle of Man didn't leaving investors out in the cold without even a warning bell from its FSA.

Pretty place, pretty rotten administration.

Re: Romanian fruit pickers

I absolutely agree it’s a horrible selfish little island and the Uk government has nothing to be proud of in its handing of the case either.
KSF had been red flagged to the FSA twice by the MD of Singer Friedlander ( up to its take over by KSF a reputable bank) who was concerned over what was happening and worried on behalf of his customers .
The attitude of the IOM was disgusting they reviled the very people who had placed their trust in its banking system.
