I'm just against capital punishment. The stats don't show that it reduces homicide rate.

Where murder is proven 100% without 'shadow of a doubt' - then Capital Punishment should be exacted.If the government/judiciary are too wimpish to do that - then life should mean life - in solitary confinement with only the bare necessities.
It is wrong that so many walk free after a few years while the families of their victims serve the 'life sentence'.

And he is not exactly free. He is under licence.
Please understand, I have no sympathy for the guy. What he has done I find abhorrent.

He is on Licence for the rest of his life.
If he applies to go to Spain it MIGHT be granted but unlikely.
Also he would not be granted a passport.

HiJust my personal view, which I will repeat.
I will not and cannot kill a captive who is no longer a threat.
That is what makes us better than them.
I was an Enforcement Officer.
I suffer from PTSD, what has happened to others, whom I could not protect.
A common problem, none of us have any issues at all with killing to protect others.
It is our failure to protect the innocent which is the issue.

When the previous government did away with the death penalty, the people of the UK were PROMISED that life would mean life in its place. Successive governments ever since have watered that promise down to joke sentencing of Life imprisonment and its meaning.
It's an absolute disgrace that this vile killer is back out on the street. How distraught that poor young man's family must be, and how this young man's life must, in their eyes, be worthless because of the life sentence his killer received and should still be serving.
I really feel for the victim's family. His girlfriend at the time as well. She obviously testified by given witness evidence, now she is living in fear because Noye has his freedom.
